PSHE

At St Mary and St Joseph VC Academy we believe that PSHE (personal, social, health and economic education) is an integral part of the curriculum

At St Mary and St Joseph VC Academy we believe that PSHE is an integral part of the curriculum. Through a variety of PSHE experiences along with our Catholic ethos and values, we aim to provide an environment that will enable each child to reach their full potential spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, morally, physically and socially.

We intend to equip children with the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe and healthy and to become independent and responsible members of society. PSHE teaching and learning will foster the development of positive, respectful relationships, focusing on family and friendships, in all contexts, including online. We aim to develop self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience in our pupils, giving them the qualities and attributes that they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives, and to become responsible citizens.

Through their experience of PSHE and the transferable knowledge and skills learnt, children will be equipped with essential skills for life.
